Writing an Essay About Yourself - The Essay-WriteWriting an essay about myself is like a week long high school reunion. I mean, it's one thing to write an essay about me in my own words, but it's quite another to do so in someone else's. I mean, if I were writing an essay about a kid who goes to the same school as me, I would not have had much fun in doing so!What does it mean to write an essay about myself? Well, let's take a look at a few examples of essays about myself that have been written in the past by some of my favorite authors. They're all written by other people, but they all have one thing in common: they are not written for me!One of my favorite authors in this category is Stephen King. In his essay about himself, he devotes much of his time to what he thinks is his great talent: the ability to make a simple idea into a complex and imaginative story. I can see why he feels this way, because I definitely see myself in him. I am the same young writer who love the conventio ns of plot, and I have many stories to tell.Another writer who writes about himself in this category is Dr. Phil McGraw. His essay on himself may be titled 'Mr. McGraw, I'm Sorry,' but there's no apology needed. Dr. McGraw spends much of his time in this essay about himself either talking about his children or his mother, who is portrayed as being a saint, which seems pretty self-centered and perhaps even a little excessive.One of my favorite authors, if I remember correctly, is someone who I can only refer to as 'the famous author' for short. This is a short article about himself by John Steinbeck. In his essay, he discusses his childhood, family, and his father, who is shown as being not quite up to his son's standards. How appropriate!The funny thing about this essay is that it was written by a man who was known to be self-absorbed and arrogant. To this day, I still don't know what he thought he was going to get out of writing this.So, please, don't ever feel that you have to wri te an essay about yourself. Yes, I agree that your piece should be based on your life experience, but it also needs to stand alone and be a celebration of you, not just a judgment of yourself.
